Payroll Lead

Description:

What Youll Do




  • Lead and support a small payroll team in the full-cycle processing of weekly, multi-state payroll for a large employee population.




  • Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and department managers to ensure accuracy and efficiency.




  • Provide coverage and guidance during vacations or absences within the payroll team.




  • Manage garnishments, deductions, tax filings, and union-related pay requirements.




  • Audit and maintain payroll policies, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and applicable laws.




  • Perform GL reconciliations and assist with quarter-end tax processes.




  • Ensure accuracy within the timekeeping system (UKG/Kronos) and proactively troubleshoot discrepancies.




  • Support ongoing process improvements and documentation updates.






What Were Looking For




  • 3+ years of recent, hands-on payroll experience, including exposure to multi-state payroll.




  • Experience processing payroll for union or collective bargaining employees is highly preferred.




  • Working knowledge of UKG Pro and Workforce Management systems (Kronos or similar).




  • Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.




  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.




  • Proven ability to coach and support team members, meet tight deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.




  • Detail-oriented mindset with excellent communication and organizational skills.
