Position Summary


The Quality Engineer will support quality engineering tasks throughout the life cycle of programs, including contract review, product design reviews, development of inspection and test plans, manufacturing process approval, determine customer approval needs, vendor/supplier evaluation, supplier rating feedback, support scrap and rework reduction efforts and customer corrective action requests.


Responsibilities



  • Evaluate and interpret customer specifications to define quality requirements and cost.

  • Design and develop a program quality plan to meet defined quality requirements.

  • Develop and deploy statistical quality control methods from both design and manufacturing perspectives.

  • Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action for defects identified by customers.

  • Under guidance from quality management, create Process Control Plans and PFMEA for existing and new products.

  • Design an inspection plan and develop equipment, facilities and training required to meet defined quality requirements for receiving, in-process and final inspection.

  • In conjunction with Engineering, design and develop a test plan, procedures, equipment and facilities and training required to meet defined quality requirements for receiving, in-process and final acceptance testing.

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes, including process capability studies and statistical control processes, review and approval of manufacturing documentation and training requirements; also include auditing of OECO's Quality and Manufacturing systems.

  • Review and approval, with Engineering and Purchasing, of vendor selection for procurement; may include on-site audit/surveys to evaluate vendor capability.

  • Monitor and approve from a quality standpoint all First Article Inspections and Test and Qualification Test and Reports.

  • Interface with customer quality personnel as an OECO Senior Quality Engineer.

  • Audit the program quality plan during production to ensure defined quality objectives are met, including failure trend analysis and cost of quality metrics.

  • Initiate, coordinate, document and follow up on corrective action required to meet defined quality objectives, including actions by OECO vendors, in-house processes and customer returns.

  • Review customer specification changes and in-house EOs for quality impact.

  • Lead and support MRB activities.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school required.

  • Four (4) years applicable work experience; aerospace electronics manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management, including executive level.

  • Ability to respond to situations of pressure professionally and without notice.

  • Positive attitude toward management policies, safety and teamwork.

  • Analytical, organized, self-directed with sound judgment and decision-making experience.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to read and analyze data in hard copy and on a computer.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and interact with a global network of customers and suppliers.

  • Attention to detail, understanding of manufacturing and technical processes; experience with statistical concepts and process monitoring; ability to use MiniTab and apply Weibull analyses.

  • Ability to obtain internal auditing certifications.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience with lean manufacturing techniques.

  • Organizational, presentation, project management and computer skills; thorough understanding of Product design (APQP) and manufacture (DFM).
