We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations. DTNA internships begin each summer in May or June. Our legal team seeks a high performing and motivated intern interested in gaining knowledge and experience through exciting and real-life learning opportunities. The intern will gain further knowledge and experience through exciting and real-life learning opportunities. The intern must work in accordance with corporate core values of passion, respect, integrity, and discipline. Internship position is located at DTNA's Portland, OR location. The legal intern will work under the close supervision of our highly experienced attorneys supporting product and technical compliance. The intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of legal projects, supervised by experienced attorneys, in one or more of the following practice groups: Business Innovation and Corporate Law, Litigation and Technical Compliance, Labor and Employment, Antitrust and Dealers, and Compliance and Outreach. The internship will begin and conclude per semester schedule. The internship is available for 40 hours per week (time to be agreed on between intern and supervising attorney) over a portion of the summer to be agreed upon between DTNA and the prospective intern. Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability.
Salary placement is determined by your anticipated graduation year and ranges between $21 - $30 per hour. Benefits include:

Work cross functionally with various departments to create a collaborative environment
Research legal issues to guide internal clients on legal and business risk associated with, for example, data privacy, dealer and vendor agreements, technical compliance, employment/labor considerations, and merger and acquisitions
Assist with drafting and analysis of various contracts and communiques
Attend internal client meetings, as necessary and requested
Support DTNA's response to inquiries from government agencies such as NHTSA, EPA, or CARB by researching our answers, reviewing documents to ensure veracity, drafting responses, etc.
Support fire claim analysis by determining the available information, determining what of that is privileged, categorizing the claims into origins, and documenting conclusions
Support development of legal trainings
Perform mini-audits to assemble timeline of events, communications, etc. on specified matters
Lead and support efforts to foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture where everyone belongs
Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program or higher from an accredited college/university OR have recently graduated within 1 year of the position start date (May/June)
Completed at least one (1) year toward a Juris Doctor degree program by the start of externship
Unquestionable integrity and appropriate handling of confidential information
Clear and flexible communication skills required
Interpersonal skills and able to work in a team environment required
Strong sense of accountability and ownership of work
Interest in automotive industry, manufacturing, technology preferred
Continuous improvement mindset preferred
Curious and adaptable preferred
Technical knowledge about vehicles preferred
