Children & Youth Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP)

Position Summary

The Children & Youth Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) or Trainee (SUDPT) provides clinic-based services to youth impacted by substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Working under the supervision of the Program Director and Clinical Supervisor, this role delivers counseling, case management, and community collaboration to help youth and families achieve recovery goals. You will conduct assessments, create individualized treatment plans, facilitate therapy sessions, and coordinate with schools, probation officers, and other partners to ensure holistic, trauma-informed care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance & Standards - Deliver services in accordance with Washington Administrative Codes (WAC 246-341), Revised Codes of Washington (RCWs), CARF accreditation standards, and all federal/state behavioral health regulations.
  • Assessment & Treatment Planning - Complete comprehensive substance use assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with youth and their families.
  • Therapeutic Services - Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions using evidence-based practices tailored to youth needs.
  • Case Management - Coordinate care and resources, including collaboration with schools, probation officers, child welfare agencies, and other community partners.
  • Clinical Documentation - Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical files documenting all services provided in compliance with state and agency standards.
  • Team Collaboration - Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and case reviews.
  • Community Representation - Represent the agency in meetings and events as approved by your supervisor.
  • On-Call Availability - Provide on-call coverage as needed to ensure continuity of care for clients.
  • Other Duties - Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support program success.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral health, or a related field.
  • Current Washington State certification as a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) or registered as a Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT).
  • Valid, unencumbered driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain professional boundaries.
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years' experience working with children and youth impacted by substance use disorders or co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Knowledge of youth development, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based treatment practices.
  • Bilingual skills.
Schedule & Work Environment
  • Position requires evening hours and one weekend day per week to accommodate youth and family availability.
  • Work occurs in clinic settings, community locations, and occasionally in clients' homes.
  • Occasional travel to meetings or training may be required.
  • This position requires the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands to operate office equipment.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, or lift/move up to 15 lbs.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with state law.


Salary:

SUDPT: $24.96 - 27.61/hour (dependent on experience)

SUDP: $27.04 - 30.87/hour(dependent on experience)
