This approach balances progress with preservation and elevates the quality of life, fostering healthier, more resilient communities.The Water/Wastewater Practice is seeking a Project Engineer in Portland, OR, Beaverton, OR, or Salem, OR.The ideal candidate will support and lead the delivery of complex municipal (special purpose district and/or city) water and wastewater projects. This role is suited for an experienced engineer who can independently manage major design tasks, contribute to project delivery, and play a key role in mentoring staff and supporting client relationships.What You'll DoKey Responsibilities:Technical Leadership & Project DeliveryLead planning and design for municipal water and wastewater systems, including:Conveyance and pumping systemsStorage and distribution systemsCollection systems and treatment facilitiesManage complex design tasks and coordinate multidisciplinary teamsPrepare and oversee engineering deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimatesEnsure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and design standardsServe as Engineer of Record or technical lead on projectsTeam Leadership & MentorshipMentor and guide junior engineers and technical staffReview work for technical accuracy and qualitySupport team development and contribute to a collaborative environmentClient Engagement & Business DevelopmentBuild and maintain relationships with municipal (special purpose district and/or city) clients and regulatory agenciesSupport proposal development, interviews, and pursuit strategiesParticipate in professional organizations and industry engagementWhat You BringRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field); PE license required or ability to obtain10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with a focus on water and wastewater systemsStrong experience in municipal (city and/or special purpose district) water/wastewater system designProven ability to lead design efforts and coordinate multidisciplinary teamsExperience managing or supporting projects through all phases of deliveryFamiliarity with public agency processes, permitting requirements, and regulatory coordinationProficiency with standard engineering tools (e.g., hydraulic modeling, drafting/design software, Bluebeam, spreadsheets)Strong communication and technical writing skillsExperience mentoring or supervising junior staffWhat We OfferWe foster an environment where talented professionals have the freedom and support to do their most meaningful work.
