If you have done everything right so far, the company has contacted you and the job interview has been scheduled. This is a very critical moment. That being said, theres quite a bit you need to keep in mind when you are interviewing for jobs in Portland. Here are some things you should do, and some things you definitely should not do, that will help you land that position.
1. Do practice before interviewing: this seems obvious, but practicing is often overlooked. Work on your delivery, try to anticipate challenging questions, and find a good tone. Get some friends to do a mock interview with you. The stress of the job interview is something everyone can relate to, and theyll be eager to help.
2. Do not interrupt your interviewer: interviewers sometimes talk at length, and what they have to say (particularly regarding the company) can be important and informative. You would do well to listen more than you speak, and you especially dont want to come across as rude or desperate.
3. Do ask questions: the question and answer process is a two way street in the job interview. Show engagement by asking some questions of your own.
4. Dont lie: honesty is always the best policy in the job interview. If you dont know an answer to a question, it is always better to admit your ignorance than to make something up on the fly.
