What You Should Do After Your Portland Job Interview


Now that the interview process is over, you are probably wondering what happens afterwards. When you are applying for jobs in Portland, there are some important post-interview steps that you should immediately pursue. Regardless of how well your interview performance was, taking these steps will give you a boost and help you stand out from the pack.

1. Don’t be afraid to ask what the next step is: at the end of the interview, go ahead and ask your interviewer what comes next. You will now know what to expect and when the appropriate time for a follow up email or phone call would be.

2. Write a thank you letter: you should write this up as soon as the interview is over. A well-crafted letter to your interviewer should reiterate your interest in the position, and thank the company for its interest in you. If you were interviewed by several different people, they should all receive thank you letters as well. It is acceptable to send these via email.

3. Send a follow up email: if your interviewers tell you that they will have an update in a week then send them an email a week later if you don’t hear back. In addition to helping you get an update, this email will also show that you listened during your interview.
