Seeking out candidates is the business of job recruiters, so they are an important resource to tap. When you are applying for jobs in Portland, connecting with a recruiter will make your search a little easier. Making that connection isnt always easy, however. Recruiters receive hundreds (and sometimes even thousands) of emails from potential candidates a week. If you seek out a job recruiter, here are some tips on how to find one and stand out from the crowd.
1. Start with recruiter directories: there are numerous online recruiter directories at your disposal. Some of them are free to use, while others will charge a fee. The Wall Street Journal recommends visiting RileyGuide.com, which lists recruiter directors, among other resources. According to The Journal, fee-based directories tend to be more up-to-date and offer better search options.

3. Be selective: avoid the temptation of submitting emails to every recruiter you can find. Look for recruiters who work in areas you are interested. Dana Leavy, a small business and career consultant at AspyreSolutions.com, says its best to identify one or two recruiters that specialize in your field and start to build relationships with them.
4. Cultivate loyalty: dont build up a relationship with recruiters and then discard or forget about them as soon as youve gotten an interview. Going back to them and building up loyalty gets you farther. Rebecca Meissner, a recruitment specialist at BranchOut.com, says The more you go back to them, the faster they'll want to help you find a job.
