Job Summary:

Assumes responsibility for constant patient observation and ensures patient's safety while actively preventing self-harm or harm to others. Assists with meeting limited patient needs and performs routine patient care tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practitioner.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • One year's experience in an outpatient clinic: Preferred


Licenses/Certifications:
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Healthstream Basic Life Support (HS-BLS) or RQIBLS or Heartsaver CPR (CPR): Required


Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrates an awareness of patient and personnel safety. Uses patient safety equipment and universal precautions in keeping the area neat and uncluttered. Reports patients' status and concerns to RNs.
  • Performs routine assigned tasks of limited complexity, e.g., checking blood pressures, taking vital signs, recording medications and scribing.
  • Demonstrates caring behavior in working with patients, families and members of the health care team. Intervenes, assists and calls for further assistance, as needed. Provides basic nursing care for a group of patients (with regular supervision).
  • Elevates questions, problems and significant challenges to more senior healthcare staff for direction or subject matter expertise.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
