General Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Director of Wellness and Treatment Services and Regional School Safety Center, the School Based Mental Health Specialist works as part of the treatment team to provide counseling and skill building support to students
Salary:

The full range for this position is $51,343.95 ($32.09 per hour) - $62,463.94 ($39.04 per hour). Offers are made at the entry level of the range.

Assignment:

This position will work full-time, 200 days per year and will serve the Goldendale School District. We provide clinical supervision to our staff.

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:
  1. Participate as an integral member of the ESD 112 Behavioral Health Agency and Regional School Safety team.
  2. Actively participate as a member of a multidisciplinary school team including but not limited to guardians and other natural supports, IEP teams, school and district staff, community treatment staff, and other team members as indicated.
  3. Enroll, screen, and provide support to youth identified as needing behavioral health services.
  4. Work with students and their guardians in the development of an individual support plan which is strength based, measurable, and assists students in meeting their goals.
  5. Provide counseling, skills groups and care coordination services as indicated for students in accordance with the individual support plan and evaluation recommendations.
  6. Coordinate activities with the school-based team to identify students facing behavioral health issues and communicate referral process for school staff.
  7. Conduct early intervention programs for students experiencing mental health challenges and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  8. Provide consultation, education and mental health awareness programs to staff, students and/or parents as requested by district or as directed by clinical supervisor or program supervisor.
  9. Administer and assess evidence-based measurement tools to track student improvement, success and readiness for service conclusion.
  10. Maintain complete and timely documentation as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. Support and implement ESD 112 Behavioral Health Agency policies and procedures.
Other Functions:
  1. Maintain a safe, environment for students.
  2. Participate in staff and team meetings, in-service programs, workshops and seminars.
  3. Participate in continuing education and agency required behavioral health trainings.
  4. Support extracurricular activities
  5. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Counseling, Human Development, Social Services, or a related field.
  2. Experience working with social/emotional at-risk youth.
  3. Experience providing social/emotional support services.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Enrolled in, or willingness to enroll in Master's program.
  2. Experience and understanding of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), including multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).
  3. Experience working in a school setting.
  4. Experience working with Special Education students and/or programs.
  5. Familiar with Washington mental health agencies and resources.
  6. Bilingual.

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  1. Travel throughout ESD 112 region.
  2. Variety of settings including students' homes, office and school environment.
  3. Extended or flexible hours as necessary.
