Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate Support: Assist in developing detailed cost estimates for marine construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Document Analysis: Review bid specifications and drawings to gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
  • Data Management: Organize and maintain pre-bid data, historical costs, and other relevant information to support the estimating process.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and ensure comprehensive coverage of project scopes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with senior estimators, project managers, and engineers to align estimates with project requirements and objectives.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges in project plans and specifications, proposing solutions to mitigate them.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and related correspondence for future reference and analysis.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in estimating, preferably within the heavy civil or marine construction industry.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with construction estimating techniques, materials, and equipment; proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze project documents, perform detailed takeoffs, and develop accurate cost models.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to ensuring all aspects of the estimate are accurate and comprehensive.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify potential issues and develop effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, fostering positive working relationships.
