Business Analyst – Software Testing and Test Automation – QA
We are seeking a resourceful, detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our project team, specializing in software testing and test automation. The ideal candidate will join the team responsible for conducting rigorous testing for multiple 3rd party applications and data integrations being developed to allow the company to join the California ISO Expanded Day Ahead Market (EDAM) in May 2026.

This position is onsite in Portland, OR.

Business Analyst Responsibilities

  1. Requirements Management: Assist in the documentation and tracking of changes to requirements across multiple sub-projects and work groups, ensuring identified test scenarios and test cases can be linked back to those requirements.
  2. Test Planning & Preparation: Assist in the development & maintenance of comprehensive test plans in ADO.
  3. Building of Test Cases & Scripts: Take test scenarios provided by users and industry/project SMEs & Implementation leads and write Test Cases & scripts to ensure thorough testing coverage of new functionality at each stage of testing. Build from scratch test cases to be automated for Regression Testing.
  4. Test Automation: Design and maintain test scripts in ADO for hand-off to Test Developers to build using test automation tools such as Selenium or Playwright. Track status of automation for each test case and ensure test cases, suites are set up correctly in ADO to facilitate automatic recording of test results. Monitor and facilitate execution of testing RPA activity, assisting developers troubleshoot when there are issues and logging any bugs/ defects found to relevant vendor/ project team.
  5. Manual Testing: Perform manual testing when necessary to validate software functionality and user experience. Facilitate manual testing by business users who are unfamiliar with ADO.
  6. Defect Management: Identify, document, and track software defects, working closely with multiple vendors & development teams to resolve issues. Make sure all bugs/ issues are accurately tracked in ADO as well as relevant vendor ticketing tools.
  7. Reporting: Assist in preparation of detailed reports on testing activities, including test results, defects & status of open issues/ fixes through resolution.
  8. Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including developers, multiple project managers, vendor project teams, utility industry/ market SMEs, internal IT, and other stakeholders.
  9. Documentation: Assist in building technical library of user manuals, specifications and other technical documentation for each in-scope application for future reference.

Business Analyst Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in software testing and test automation. Minimum 1 year with electrical power industry markets.
  3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cucumber, Playwright), ADO, defect management systems, power industry applications (e.g., PCI, MCG, OATI and Power Settlements).
  4. Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Flexibility is key as they will need to adapt to different project/ work styles and tools being utilized by different project teams.

Compensation: $45-$55/hr. (DOE)
