Description

Bethany Athletic Club's new childcare center Bkids seeks an Assistant Director to join the Bkids team! The Assistant Director will assist the Director in overseeing the BKids Daycare + Preschool and fostering a safe, supportive, and educational environment for children. They will be responsible for assisting in all areas of childcare including staffing, administration, legal compliance, and enrollment of the center.

Schedule: M-F

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain compliance with certified daycare center rules
  • Develop operational and personnel policies
  • Manage a team of aides and teachers
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing training for all childcare/youth programs staff
  • Coordinate the weekly schedule, covering different shifts if necessary
  • Serve as the lead customer service contact for members in Bkids, including answering questions, welcoming parents, and other member communications
  • Develop and manage all employees
  • Establish, monitor, and analyze the budget
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures
  • Order supplies as needed
  • Refer all HR-related issues to the Operations Manager and/or HR department
  • Work days, evenings, and weekends as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Certified in CPR/First Aid
  • Meets Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care requirements for a Childcare Center Director
  • Step 9 in the Oregon Registry
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in early learning education or relevant field
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a certified childcare center
  • Experience managing and leading a team of 8+ staff

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or special education
  • Associate degree (AS/AA) in early childhood education or child development
  • One-year state or nationally recognized credential related to preschool-age care
  • Completion of 20 semester credits or 30 quarter credits in relevant training
  • At least two years of qualifying teaching experience in a certified childcare or group care program
  • Documentation of attending at least Step 8.5 in the Oregon Registry

Training:

  • Head teachers must complete OCC-approved health and safety training before unsupervised access to children
  • Complete a minimum of two hours of child abuse and neglect training specific to Oregon law
  • If caring for infants, complete OCC-approved safe sleep training

Additional Qualifications

Language Requirement: Ability to use computer/smartphone applications, comprehend written documents, and communicate effectively.
