FLSA: Non Exempt

Department: ORR - Downtown

Reports To: RSS Supervisor

Salary: $19.95/hr. - $21.99/hr. (Bilingual Spanish - $21.75/hr. - $23.97/hr.)

Shift timings: Monday through Thursday from 3 pm to 1:30 am.

Job Purpose

Works a fixed post in the Facility Central Control Area, monitoring staff and youth movements via security video and radio. Responsible for safety and security of residents and staff, and assists Youth Care Workers with clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor movement of staff and youth, communicate with on-duty staff, and manage safety plans.
  • Perform routine security duties to maintain infrastructure safety.
  • Operate communication equipment, including CCTV and radios.
  • Issue radios, maintain security logs, and report security issues.
  • Assist with intake procedures and other tasks as assigned.
  • Participate in organizational training and promote trauma-informed practices.

Core Competencies

  • Ability to learn control room equipment and maintain professionalism in chaotic situations.
  • Accurate record-keeping and effective communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work any day and shift, including weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

  • At least 21 years old, high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year experience with youth, preferably in a secured setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (must pass proficiency test).
  • Background check, vaccinations, TB test, bloodborne pathogen training, valid driver's license, CPR/First Aid certification, and other trainings required.

Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Ability to physically restrain clients up to 200 pounds.
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Availability for overtime and emergency coverage.
