Position: Program Aid

Summer Only

Schedule: June 9th – Aug 15th

5.5 hours M-F (scheduled between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM)

$20/hourly

About The Position

BGCP is seeking a Program Aid from June 9th – August 15th, 2025. Responsibilities include supporting activity delivery and mentorship to youth, with an emphasis on STEAM. They will assist in planning and delivering programming, fostering an inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive climate, and managing behavior using trauma-informed, restorative approaches. In the absence of a coordinator, the Program Aid may cover programming. They may also assist with Nutrition Services or Front Desk duties.

Position Responsibilities

  • Mentor and supervise elementary, middle, or high school members.
  • Guide members through hands-on learning and social activities, including art, STEAM, games, and sports.
  • Create and supervise special events and field trips.
  • Attend scheduled training and professional development.
  • Ensure safety, operations, and programming goals are met within the Club leadership team.
  • Support with Nutrition Services and Front Desk duties, including meal preparation, serving, cleaning, and member check-in/out.
Position Requirements

  • Model positive values and youth development skills.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team for a positive youth experience.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and stakeholders.
  • Collect data on program quality and outcomes.
  • Follow organizational policies, demonstrate good judgment, and handle stressful situations.
  • Report suspected child abuse or neglect as mandated reporters.
  • Pass a criminal background check and obtain a Multnomah County Food Handler's Card.
  • Wear BGCP-issued T-shirt and closed-toe shoes.
Position Qualifications

  • Knowledge of youth and teen development principles.
  • Ability to meet schedules, deadlines, and maintain consistent attendance.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Driver's license and ability to drive Club vans are a plus.
  • Experience preferred but not required.
