POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking a Senior Design Studies Engineer with expertise in Line Design and EMT Studies. This position is available in multiple POWER office locations with the possibility of remote work from a mutually acceptable location. Please specify your preferred location in the application.

Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will oversee project completion, maintain and enhance client relationships, and possess technical competence in primary production roles. Responsibilities include supporting AC and DC transmission line and substation design studies for utility and commercial clients.

Studies Will Include

  • Insulation coordination for AC and DC applications
  • Transient simulation, TRV analysis, circuit breaker rating studies
  • Steady state unbalance, transposition, and reclosing studies
  • Neutral reactor sizing, NESC clearance, equipment approach distance studies
  • Conductor sizing, optical shield wire sizing, lightning performance prediction
  • Lightning/surge/voltage arrester application, corona performance, corrosion mitigation
  • Finite-element analysis, resonance studies, electrical losses, FACTS device implementation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience in related studies
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including electromagnetics
  • Proficiency with software such as ATP, PSCAD, DigSILENT, EMTP, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Power Systems MSEE or PhD
  • PE certification or equivalent
  • Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics and Polaris-EMF

Our company offers a competitive compensation package including benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, 401(k), and more. The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $225,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
