Position Summary
Join the Learning Technologies and Innovation team as a Help Desk Specialist!
In this position, you'll work with students, faculty, and staff to navigate technical issues and make the best use of the college's technology resources. You'll serve as an expert in the online learning environment and work as part of a team that provides users with support for the college's Learning Management System and instructional technologies such as video conferencing, video creation and sharing, and document editing.
You'll also assist users with instructional technologies aligned with best practices and help them understand and navigate college policies, procedures, and systems.

- At least 1 year of experience doing technical support via phone, chat, and email.
- Demonstrated experience with learning management systems, integrated instructional technologies, and similar tools.
- Demonstrated experience assisting clients of various skill levels, lived experiences, technical experience, and language skills.
- Ability to remain calm and courteous when assisting upset customers and defusing tense and emotionally charged situations.
- Capable of working independently in a fast-paced team environment and completing projects in a timely fashion.
- Demonstrates adaptability to changing work requirements, a dynamic environment, and constantly evolving technology.
Minimum Qualifications To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
- High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree or two years of college-level course work or training in a computer-related discipline. Experience performing the duties of the job may substitute for the post-secondary education or training on a year-for-year basis.
- Two years of experience which demonstrates a good working knowledge of computers is required. Must have knowledge of personal computer and server technologies, networks; proficiency in a variety of applications software (e.g., Word Perfect, Word, Access, Power Point, Excel, communications software, PageMaker, etc.). Must have knowledge of relational databases, client-server architecture and operating systems, the Internet, web based applications, TCP/IP protocol, Ethernet and wireless networking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and time management/multi-tasking skills. Strong analytical and problem solving ability. Good understanding of computers for troubleshooting and diagnosing problems. Familiarity with use of Internet-based services such as electronic mail, WWW, News, web browsers, web applications, browser pluggins and other LAN and data communications hardware and software.

Starting Salary Expectations
The first two steps of the range are: $55,159.00 to $58,515.00 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Coordinating a variety of activities and/or responding to peak work load periods can result in periods of high pressure. Incumbent is generally able to regulate own schedule, work flow, etc.
Regular exposure to video screens, electrical and electronic equipment.
Responds to emergency service calls and district-wide situations in a constantly changing environment.
Exposure to video display terminals and computer related noise levels, as well as dust and equipment cleaning materials, occurs on a regular basis.

Campus Security Authorities must immediately report Clery Act crimes that occurred on Portland Community College's Clery geography on the Crime Incident Report (CIRTracâ„¢) located on the Department of Public Safety's Clery Act compliance webpage. Following entry of a report on CIRTracâ„¢ PCC's Clery Specialist will (1) analyze the report for issuance of a timely warning or emergency notification; and (2) will determine if the report should be included in the annual statistical disclosures. The Clery Specialist shall annually assign CSAs online Clery Act training to ensure they are provided proper training to fulfill their reporting responsibilities required by the Clery Act and PCC's Clery Act policy.
