GENERAL STATEMENT
Performs a variety of routine to complex para-professional duties, including the input, curation and collation of different forms of data including payments, receipts, spreadsheet, database, payroll or other financial data and records.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of a supervisor or other management-level position.

Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer, screen and transfer inbound phone calls.
- Receive and direct visitors and clients. Transfer information to other staff as necessary.
- General clerical duties including photocopying, fax, and mailing.
- Maintain and retrieve documents from electronic and hard copy filing systems.
- Verify documents, invoices and other paper records.
- Maintain routine/basic bookkeeping.
- Provide front-line direct service to members of the public. Handle requests for information and data.
- Resolve routine/basic administrative problems and inquiries.
- Prepare written responses to routine inquiries.
- Prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos, and emails.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for managers or supervisors.
- Open, sort and distribute incoming correspondence.
- Coordinate maintenance of office equipment and maintain office supply inventories.
- Processes payments for permits. Reconcile payments from third parties.
- Maintain files and archive permits and plans for building.

Typical Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as typing, accounting, data processing.
One (1) year of experience related to the position.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must successfully pass a criminal history background check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing.
- Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Requires a high degree of customer service and tact in dealing with the general public and with financial information.
- Skill in operating listed tools and equipment.
- Ability to utilize City-specific financial technology and general office software.
- Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and quickly.
- Ability to communicate clearly, and logically, both verbally and in writing; prepare reports and outputs from databases and other electronic systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with City staff, other organizations and the general public.
- Ability to work under pressure and deal professionally with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to learn City rules, policies, and procedures related to area of assignment. Ability to follow established city policies, problem-solve, and take initiative within established procedures and guidelines.
- Ability to proofread material rapidly and accurately, checking for several details simultaneously.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Regular focus on a computer screen for prolonged periods and daily use of a keyboard.
