Description:

The Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator is responsible for partnering with HSE Leadership and site Leadership to drive sustainable HSE Programs. This individual will report into HSE Leadership and will interface with site leaders to ensure HSE & Fire Protection compliance. The role requires a self-guided, proactive individual to meet critical deadlines.

This position oversees site HSE leadership and compliance, ensuring adherence to all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations. Responsibilities include personnel training, maintaining permits (e.g., city, county, municipality), managing sprinkler and fire alarm systems, and collaborating with the Plant Engineer and contractors. Environmental duties encompass wastewater permits, Tier 2 reporting, SWP3, SPCC, recycling, waste management, and government inspections. Safety tasks involve leading audits, incident investigations, gemba walks, pre-startup reviews, and safety training (e.g., LOTO, Fall Protection, Fire Safety, GHS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and facilitate HSE compliance training for the site.
  • Partner with site leadership to ensure completion of inspections and compliance obligations.
  • Manage ongoing safety and environmental activities.
  • Oversee permit renewals and applications for federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Lead and manage recycling and Zero Waste programs, collaborating with vendors.
  • Maintain environmental compliance, including Wastewater, SWP3, and SPCC.
  • Ensure timely completion of government inspection reports.
  • Lead Employee Safety Committee to foster a safety culture.
  • Report environmental and safety metrics regularly.
  • Maintain HSE supplies such as PPE, LOTO equipment, and spill kits.
  • Collaborate with leadership and employees to implement standards and programs.
  • Facilitate incident investigations and maintain chemical inventories and SDS access.
  • Maintain fire protection systems and waste management programs.
  • Coordinate updates to HSE procedures, Business Continuity, and Emergency Response Plans.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Use Microsoft Office for communication, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist with contractor safety and sign-in procedures.
  • Participate in Safety Community of Practice forums.
  • Support capital projects as directed.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support business operations.

Education Level: Associates degree or 4 years' experience; EHS training or equivalent (e.g., OSHA 30, DOT Hazardous Materials, RCRA).

Preferred Skills:

  • 2-4 years in manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in HSE or related field.
  • OSHA Safety Training (e.g., 501 & 511).
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Understanding of Environmental Standards (EPA, RCRA, Tier II, Permitting).
  • Leadership and influencing skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks autonomously.
