In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of our desktop environment, including mobile devices, user experience, and system management infrastructure. You will ensure the proper design of software/hardware development and deployment processes, while providing support for desktop technologies and IT solutions. Additionally, you will offer Tier 3 application support and configure stable enterprise-wide installations based on precise technical instructions. The Systems Engineer ma nages a mixed Windows and Linux Server Environment running on VMWare, UCS Blade servers and Netapp Storage including Tier 1 & 2 troubleshooting under the guidance of the Senior Systems Engineer. You will work on optimizing server design through the review and assessment of user needs - escalating as needed, evaluating vendor products, and making recommendations for selection. Other duties will include monitoring and responding to system problems in our data centers, including but not limited to resolving system outages and degraded service by working with internal and external technical staff and engaging with vendor support, as needed.

Serve as a good steward of TriMet by regularly utilizing our transit system to maintain a strong and current understanding of customers experiences and of TriMets product and service offerings.
1. Manages a mixed Windows and Linux Server Environment running on VMWare, UCS Blade servers, and Netapp Storage.
2. Install, configure, test and deploy software packages/security patches related to the enterprise environment.
3. Administer and troubleshoot servers and platforms such as Active Directory, Exchange, Virtualization, Automation, Terminal Services, real-time system monitoring, and agency backup systems.
4. Consult with technical and end-user staff to define computing needs and resolve system-related problems as needed, including serving as a technical resource to the agency.
5. Troubleshoot Active Directory, managing global AD environments (ADDS, ADFS, DNS, etc.).
6. Manage small to medium size projects.
A Bachelor's Degree is required.
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science is preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years total credited experience.*
Two (2) years of experience providing microcomputer user support in a corporate environment including contract and project management are required
Two (2) years of experience coordinating enterprise-wide desktop administration activities are preferred.
Possession of a valid Oregon or Washington driver's license and good driving record in line with TriMet policy is required.
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
*The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

Salary R ange
Minimum: $89,263.00
Maximum: $133,894.00
Salary offers will be determined by a candidates education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMets salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
