Hybrid Senior Data Analyst Role
Location: Portland, OR also, Dallas, TX
SUMMARY
The Senior Data Analyst role delivers critical data analysis, data management and analytics services to design, deliver, and maintain accessible innovative solutions for the organizations current and future success.
- Leads and facilitates discussions with Business Leadership to better understand needs, business requirements and the context to interpret datasets correctly.
- Leads the delivery of predictive data analysis, to generate actionable insights, leads manages and ensures data quality, integrity, normalization and accuracy of datasets from multiple sources.
- Leads the facilitation of stakeholders to define the data requirements, data strategy, data rules (standardization, cleansing, and validation), and creates specifications for assigned initiatives. Comfortable with translating business questions into SQL including proper cohorting, calculations, filtering criteria and/or aggregations for deliver.
- Leads and delivers on initiatives and assignments that explore new uses of data.
- Serves as a mentor for more junior data analysts.
- Create high-level process models (system interface diagrams, workflow & swim lane diagrams, data flow diagrams) to represent processes for the area under analysis.
- Responsible to improve the quality of data in relation to defined expectations.
- Performs analysis of system data to identify patterns, exceptions, and erroneous data.
- Creates and implements Microsoft Power BI, Azure Synapse or Fabric workspaces, data models, data flows, datasets, DAX formulas and reports for reporting and analytics tools to support management and operational reporting needs.
- Performs independent audits and reviews and validate BI artifacts (stored procedures, queries, reports, universes, etc.) to ensure data integrity.
- Provides support for and development in organizational standard third-party reporting and analytics tools.
- Accesses and creates various data services (i.e. API and other data sharing synchronization mechanisms) to supplement applications and datasets.
- Collects and refines data from disparate data sources to support business requirements.
- Designs and develops complex application systems using advanced technology platforms.
- Schedules, optimizes, and maintains various ETLs ensuring they run successfully.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data issues and alerts as need.
- Provide support to business stakeholders and team members on data management tools and techniques.
- Participates in supporting training and workshops that promote business intelligence and data governance best practices to the analyst community; consults and mentor business staff on user designed queries and developed reports.
- Business analytical skills; ability to apply business logic to design and implement data mining techniques on large data sets.
- Drives digital solutions projects, products, and feature launches with other teams both inside and outside of the organization.
- Perform and maintains system set-up, configuration, subscription maintenance admin duties and testing for assigned areas; provide application support including on-call support where required
REQUIRED SKILLS
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other related technology field required; 10 years combined more years as a data analyst, data engineer, or business intelligence analyst; 5+ years of hands-on analytical work experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Power BI stack (ETL ownership, complex transformations, development of analytical datasets)
- High experience with Microsoft tech stack including SQL Server Relational and Analysis Services databases, Power BI and Azure Synapse and Fabric.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Power BI workspace management, data model development, data flows, certified data sets, DAX and report development (3+ years)
- Some experience with new Microsoft Fabric utilization and migration of Power BI content to Fabric.
- High proficiency manipulating large data sets and interpreting data trends using a multitude of disparate data sources and tools
- High proficiency and professional experience with data acquisition, data manipulation, data cleaning.
- High proficiency and professional experience with Excel, PowerPoint
- Preferred experience with version control systems
- Familiarity with Data Lakehouse concepts and technologies
- Experience with in third party reporting and analytics tools
- Knowledge in the handshake between interfacing systems using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to ensure proper reception and synchronization of records using mature programming languages.
- Experience with cloud platforms (i.e AWS and Azure and their data services)
