Resident Advisor Supervisor (2 positions)

Helping Hands provides HOPE and CARE through personal, trauma-informed programs to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Our programs are Trauma-Informed, Data-Driven, and Person-Centered.We take the time to learn each individual's story and help connect them to the appropriate local resources and services to meet their unique needs. We do not duplicate available services; instead, we build strong collaborative partnerships with local programs and foster connections between participants and our community partners.

Position Summary

The right individual for this position has a passion for helping others, is nonjudgmental, and able to deal with difficult situations in positive and constructive ways. The RA Supervisor works in partnership and collaboration with fellow Supervisors to lead team of Resident Advisors and supervise day-to-day shelter activities; facilitate problem solving and crisis intervention services with participants. Full-time, evenings/weekends required. $23.00 per hour.

Day-to-day: Provides staff oversight such as new hire onboarding, training, conducting check-ins, shift scheduling and overtime management, approving timesheets and PTO. Provides participant services such as handling grievances, leave requests, perform urinalysis and breathalyzer testing , o versee bunk assignments, dorm inspections and property storage. Ensures timely data entry, up-to-date incident logs, shift reports, and participant records, both manually and using web-based program. Attends regular agency and staff meetings.

Qualifications:

  • One year supervisory experience required.
  • One year of experience in human/social services/nonprofit.
  • Six months of heavy volume customer service.
  • Experience working with homeless/low-income population preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED; A degree/some college preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to appropriately assess a situation and take corrective action as necessary
  • Understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • De-escalation and Trauma-informed training preferred.
  • 1 st Aid/CPR Training completed within 30 days of hire.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee, with or without accommodation, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with participants, interaction with staff, and interaction with the general public.
  • Work is primarily performed indoors, within an office setting, occasionally accompanied by moderate noise levels and exposure to scents.
  • Frequently required to sit/stand at a computer or in a stationary position.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as copy machine, printer, and phone.
  • Frequently required to move within the facility for meetings, office equipment, and daily operations.
