Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Location: Onsite, Hillsboro, OR

Job Summary:

As a member of the engineering team, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing new systems from initial concept through production and post-production. This includes managing design timelines, creating bills of materials, schematic development, and conducting quality assessments. The engineer is expected to work independently with guidance from the Director of Engineering.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex electrical system designs from conception to completion.
  • Operate within the SolidWorks PDM environment.
  • Perform safety and component selection calculations.
  • Communicate with sales teams and customers to ensure designs meet customer requirements.
  • Record and report design costs.
  • Source high-quality, competitively priced components as needed.
  • Develop design specifications and test protocols as required.
  • Design electrical schematics based on customer quotes.
  • Generate accurate bills of materials.
  • Provide technical support and serve as a customer contact point when needed.
  • Write procedures, reports, and technical documents as necessary.

Skills Required:

  • Proven initiative, goal-setting, and task completion abilities.
  • Efficient multi-project management skills.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software, especially AutoCAD; AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.
  • Ability to design electrical power systems for motors and motor control.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills utilizing schematics, documentation, and diagnostic tools.
  • Safe and effective use of hand and power tools.
  • Excellent creativity, organization, and team-building skills.
  • Effective technical communication skills, both written and oral.

Education and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of NEC, UL508A, and NFPA 70 standards related to control panels, motors, and motor control systems.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation for flow, temperature, pressure, and actuators.
  • Understanding of short circuit current ratings (SCCR).
  • Hands-on experience with electrical power measurement, wiring, troubleshooting of control panels and field devices.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrical engineer.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, and to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
