Technical Product Manager
Position Description
Job Location: Lake Oswego, OR
Position Status: Full-time
Education: Bachelor's degree or higher
Position Overview:
Lightspeed Aviation is seeking a talented and driven Technical Product Manager with a unique combination of software and hardware engineering skills to continue to transform the aviation headset industry. In this role, you will be the bridge between our internal and external engineering teams, stakeholders, and our end-users, helping to define and deliver cutting-edge aviation communication solutions. You will be an essential partner in crafting and maintaining our product roadmaps, working closely with engineering and leadership to ensure our products exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Product Strategy & Market Analysis: Develop and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, incorporating software and hardware aspects. Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for innovation.
- Customer-Centric Approach: Advocate for the voice of the customer by understanding their needs and pain points in the aviation industry, ensuring product development aligns with user experience and interfaces (UI/UX).
- Requirements & Release Management: Gather, document, and prioritize product requirements. Coordinate product releases, ensuring clear communication, alignment across teams, and on-time delivery while managing project scope and mitigating risks.
- Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Provide technical guidance and serve as a subject matter expert in both software and hardware domains. Collaborate closely with engineering, UX/UI designers, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams to drive product development from concept to release.
- Project Management: Coordinate the efforts of the internal and external engineering resources, Quality, contract manufacturers, and production through the product development phases to deliver the product(s) to the market on time.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making & Documentation: Utilize data and metrics to make informed decisions about product performance and improvements. Create and maintain comprehensive product documentation, including user guides, release notes, and technical specifications.
Qualifications
Required:
- The candidate must possess a BS degree and have 8+ years of experience in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or Audio Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience m anaging complex projects and working with project management tools and methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or a hybrid methodology.
- Demonstrated proficiency in systems engineering, requirement management, and lifecycle management software tools and processes, such as architecture specs, design guides, data sheets, wikis/Confluence
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in an engineering discipline – Electrical, Electronics, Computer, Audio/Acoustics, Software, or mechatronics.
- Knowledge of the aviation industry and familiarity with avionics technology is highly desirable.
- Cloud-based AI tools integration with data streams
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a self-driven and results-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in project management tools, product management software, and agile development methodologies.
- PMP, Scrum, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
- Understanding regulatory compliance, such as FAA regulations, is advantageous.
