Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (MFA) is hiring a Staff Environmental Planner to join our thoughtful, collaborative team. As a Staff Environmental Planner, you will...

Support a wide range of projects, from permitting strategies and regulatory research to environmental review. Work closely with project managers and technical staff across disciplines, gaining exposure to NEPA/SEPA processes, shoreline, and growth management regulations. Contribute to meaningful work that connects policy with impact, such as drafting permit applications, writing environmental review sections, researching regulations, organizing deliverables, and participating in meetings. Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and planners to solve complex challenges and grow your skills.

To thrive in this role, you must have...

  • A bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Natural Resources, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant planning, permitting, or related experience.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • An understanding of or eagerness to learn about land use, policy, and environmental regulations.
  • Strong organization, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative work style.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Suite; familiarity with GIS or permitting tools is a plus.

Qualifications (not required)

  • Experience with NEPA/SEPA, shoreline permitting, or Oregon land use laws.
  • Interest in pursuing AICP certification.

Compensation Range: $71,000 to $81,000 annually.
