In the role of a Substation Engineering Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Develop a partnership with Project Managers, with PMs responsible for scope, schedules, budgets, and client management, and the Engineering Manager responsible for technical project execution.
  • Work closely with the technical leadership team to develop and execute processes for quality control, technical expertise, and project delivery.
  • Collaborate with local and national Power Delivery leadership to develop training, mentorship, and technical development plans for junior staff.
  • Create and implement project execution plans for the technical aspects of projects.
  • Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to team members.
  • Support scope, schedule, and budget management, including proposal development, work breakdown, risk mitigation, change, and schedule management.
  • Perform quality checks on project deliverables per HDR Quality Management System requirements to ensure world-class quality.
  • Mentor and supervise Project Engineers, EITs, or CADD/Designers as needed.
  • Lead multiple projects concurrently, possibly across different locations.
  • Work with senior engineers to identify and develop technical expertise, attending relevant training and seminars.
  • Assist in developing technical papers or presentations for industry conferences.
  • Participate in project reviews as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP certification

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 7 years of related experience
  • At least 2 years of project management experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project (Access a plus)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
