Description

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Human Resources Coordinator to join our team!

As the Human Resources Coordinator, you will be the first point of contact for our HR department, handling inquiries, employee onboarding and offboarding, and daily HR transactions. This role requires independent judgment, a deep understanding of Agency HR policies and practices, and a solid grasp of federal and state employment laws. This position is primarily remote with daily, virtual team meetings and occasional travel to our administrative offices required. In-office required on Monday's.

Essential Duties:

HR Service Center Support

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the HR department. Respond promptly and accurately to inquiries, directing requests to appropriate HR staff.
  • Maintain positive employee relations through strong customer service and problem-solving skills while exhibiting a professional and helpful demeanor.
  • Research and provide data, assisting employees and managers in understanding Agency policies and practices.

Candidate & New Hire Support

  • Manage job applications by tracking, processing, and supporting requisitions and job postings.
  • Screen applications, schedule interviews, and assist with placement decisions for targeted positions. Coordinate start dates with candidates, hiring managers, and the Training department.
  • Oversee new hire processing and onboarding, verifying degrees and credentials, conducting background/reference checks, and ensuring compliance with credentialing requirements.
  • Act as Qualified Entity Designee (QED) for DHS Background Checks, determining hiring eligibility and processing any necessary suspension or termination paperwork.
  • Enter new hire, payroll, and employee data into the HRIS, prepare ID badges, and assist with orientation tasks.

Administrative Support & Record-Keeping

  • Process employee transactions and maintain accurate records within the HRIS system.
  • Assign and track documents, performance reviews, and employee surveys, ensuring timely completion.
  • Generate reports as needed for various audiences.
  • Provide general administrative support, including filing, supply orders, document production, invoicing, and mailing. This may require occasional onsite work.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Stay up-to-date on HR practices and agency policies through training sessions.
  • Participate in committees and meetings to support HR projects and organizational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • HR certification or experience working in Human Resources preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Good time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the agency's HRIS and related systems.
  • Ability to obtain DHS Qualified Entity Designee (QED) status.
  • Strong understanding and appreciation of a diverse work environment and fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
