Location: 830 NE Holladay St., Portland, OR (West Region)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

We're seeking a committed and experienced National Safety Officer - child safety (NSO) to join our child welfare leadership team. The NSO plays a critical role in safeguarding unaccompanied children by leading a team of three and overseeing serious incident responses, inter-agency collaboration, and federal reporting. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working with a dedicated and mission-driven organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead staffings with case managers and the chain-of-command to determine appropriate safety interventions
  • Oversee serious incident reviews, safety planning, and reporting to CPS, police, NHTH, OTIP, and other protective entities
  • Submit, revise, and track OTIP requests to the Office of Trafficking in Persons
  • Collaborate with mental health staff and program directors to identify trends, training needs, and case guidance
  • Ensure federal reporting accuracy and timelines, including Notices of Concern and OTIP referrals
  • Maintain compliance with all internal protocols, federal and state regulations, and documentation standards
  • Participate in national case staffings and support the Safety Specialist
  • Be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed


Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's in behavioral sciences, human services, or social services (required); Master's preferred
  • Experience: 3+ years of supervisory and case management experience in child welfare or a related field; experience with immigrant populations strongly preferred
  • Skills: Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred), crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, cultural competency, and strong documentation and reporting abilities
  • Other: Valid driver's license and insurable vehicle; ability to commute weekly to HUB office and travel as needed (must live near a major airport)
