Senior Design Engineer

Description:

Oversee the Land Development Engineering Department, with responsibility for team leadership, scheduling, project execution, business development, and overall departmental performance. This senior role is instrumental in driving profitable growth, maintaining high performance standards, and ensuring client satisfaction across private development projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, internal teams, and external partners
  • Manage projects across budget, scope, and schedule with a focus on profitability and client experience
  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and respond to RFPs and RFQs
  • Set and track department goals, particularly in residential and private land development
  • Lead and expand private development business, including targeted outreach to energy sector clients
  • Execute marketing initiatives to support revenue growth, with a minimum target of $300,000 in new business
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment while promoting a strong, positive company culture
  • Contribute to organizational efficiency by aligning systems, resources, and structure with strategic goals
  • Monitor market trends and client needs to uncover new opportunities and maintain competitiveness
  • Attend industry events and participate in professional organizations as a company representative
  • Offer strategic input and insights to senior leadership for long-term planning
  • Promote and uphold quality assurance processes, contributing to continuous improvement and staff training
  • Utilize design software including Civil3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Bluebeam for project execution and oversight
  • Continue professional development through relevant training, courses, and certifications
  • Support the enhancement and consistency of project management processes across departments


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, including 10 years managing project teams delivering construction and bid-ready documents
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Oregon and in good standing with OSBEELS
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and deliver exceptional results
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Civil3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, Bluebeam, and project management software


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and retain top talent for the department
  • Cultivate a high-performance work culture and provide coaching and mentorship
  • Establish performance benchmarks and promote career development opportunities
