Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (MFA) is seeking a full-time Civil or Environmental Engineer to join our Portland, OR team. Whether you're an experienced contributor ready to take on more responsibility or a leader looking to advance your career, we want to hear from you.

With at least 5+ years of experience, you have a strong technical foundation and are prepared to expand your impact by leading projects, collaborating with clients, and shaping meaningful work. MFA offers support, autonomy, and a team that values your growth.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience and enthusiasm in stormwater design, environmental remediation, or site development. A curiosity about land use planning, brownfield redevelopment, or industrial cleanup is also beneficial.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting engineering design development, specifications, and permitting
  • Assisting with contractor bidding and selection
  • Participating in construction oversight, quality control, and field work
  • Preparing technical reports and proposals
  • Managing projects, including scopes, schedules, budgets, and client communication
  • Reviewing technical work for accuracy
  • Collaborating with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Working across disciplines, sometimes leading, sometimes supporting
  • Sharing knowledge and seeking input to foster growth

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • EIT or PE license (or ability to obtain in Washington within 3 months)
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience and ongoing professional development
  • Interest in site development, brownfield redevelopment, environmental remediation, stormwater design
  • Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, MS Word, and Excel
  • Teamwork skills, ability to deliver successful projects within scope, schedule, and budget
  • Valid driver's license and willingness for occasional fieldwork
  • Ability to perform outdoor physical tasks

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in industrial stormwater design or utility grading plans
  • Construction management or oversight experience
  • Interest in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with current refresher
  • Hands-on project management experience

Compensation Range: $88,000 to $125,000
