The Associate Director will collaborate with the Associate Vice Provost, staff, faculty, and administrators to develop, implement, and evaluate educational development programs sponsored by the Office of Academic Innovation (OAI).
This role involves partnering with Portland State University (PSU) units to promote initiatives, supporting the development and assessment of academic programs, and evaluating these programs using various methods to inform recommendations. The Associate Director will provide consultation on effective teaching practices and assessment strategies to enhance teaching, learning, and student success.
Responsibilities include consulting with faculty and academic units on educational development, overseeing orientations, workshops, faculty learning communities, campus-wide events, mentoring and supervising OAI teaching support staff, and representing OAI on university governance committees.
OAI leads campus efforts to enhance teaching and learning, innovative educational technology, and community-based learning. It serves as a thought leader and partner in initiatives like curricular and delivery model changes, student success improvement, and assessment practices. OAI engages with individuals, departments, learning communities, campus-wide conversations, and develops digital resources.
The team includes experts in organizational development, instructional design, community-based learning, assessment, curriculum, adult learning, instructional technology, multimedia, and educational leadership. OAI reports to the Vice Provost of Faculty Success within the Office of Academic Affairs.
