First Shift Monday - Friday with possible on-call hours.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Leads a recovery team to maximize the gift and facilities the recovery of tissue for transplant. Ensures a timely follow-up is completed post recovery with all applicable constituents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Leads, coordinates and participates in surgical recovery of tissue according to company and regulatory standards.
2. Provides day to day staff training and education relating to recovery.
3. Reviews and completes donor charts and coordinates recoveries.
4. Communicates with donor families, physicians, hospital staff, funeral homes, and external customers such as Organ Procurement Organization and Eye Banks.
5. Educates professionals and public about donation.
6. Organizes and delivers surveys to hospital staff then comprises and delivers statistics to hospital administration.
7. Assists with hospital in-services, health fairs and professional and public education.
8. Coordinates the storage, irradiation and return of autologous tissue.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree or relevant medical experience required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

• Must be able to meet minimum on-call requirements, including weekends and holidays.
• Overnight travel may be required, including flights on commercial aircraft.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be considered insurable by CBC/CTS insurance provider.
• Must be able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and greater than 50 pounds with assistance.
• Must be able to meet the required physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of gross anatomy and sterile technique preferred.
• Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) preferred.
• Experience or training in surgical technology/operating room procedures, allied health, medical, technical or mortuary field preferred.
