Project Manager, Substation - Portland, OR
Position overview: The Energy team at David Evans and Associates, Inc. provides infrastructure solutions for power delivery and renewable energy, with planning and design for low- to high-voltage facilities. This remote-friendly role has a preference for candidates based near our Portland, OR; Corvallis, OR; Bend, OR; Seattle, WA; Tacoma, WA; Denver, CO; or Boise, ID offices. The team aims to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable electricity across power generation, renewables, and transportation electrification, tailoring services to technical, financial, environmental, and political needs.
What You'll Do
- High level technical leadership, project management, and client management for substation projects up to 500 kV.
- Develop project approach, and develop/implement project execution plans.
- Develop project staffing plans, participate in group workload planning, assist in managing backlog and informing staffing decisions.
- Delegate project tasks to the team and provide technical guidance to team members.
- Work closely with project engineers, designers, technicians, and other project managers on multidiscipline project teams.
- Lead or coordinate QA/QC processes for substation projects.
- Serve as a seller/doer, building long-term client relationships through execution of high-quality work and clear communication.
- Directly manage projects and support staff in development and delivery, including scoping, budgeting, contract negotiations, and execution.
- Mentor engineers, designers, and other staff.
- Some travel may be required.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or closely related field) from an accredited college.
- 5+ years of experience with substation design.
- 3+ years of experience as a project manager or engineering manager.
- Experience with all aspects of substation design, including physical, relaying, and studies.
- Professional Engineering License (PE).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to write and communicate clearly and concisely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college.
- Experience managing electrical consultant projects and teams.
- Experience building substations for utility-scale renewable generation and working with renewable owners/developers or design-build contractors.

- Potential salary range: $125,000 - $185,000; actual compensation based on experience and location
