The Department of Surgery's Division of Bariatric Surgery specializes in weight-loss surgery, medical weight loss, nutrition, and lifestyle adjustment. The team includes experienced bariatric nurse practitioners, certified bariatricians, clinical dieticians, nurses, psychologists, and support staff, all trained in caring for obese patients and providing multidisciplinary care. Procedures include Gastric Bypass, Gastric Sleeve, Duodenal Switch, Single Anastomosis Duodeno-Illeal bypass, and Revisional Bariatric Surgery. The surgeons conduct ongoing research and follow patients long-term from pre- to post-surgery.
We seek a highly skilled licensed Psychologist to join the Bariatric Surgery and Medical Weight Management program. The candidate should have expertise in health psychology/behavioral medicine, preferably with experience working with bariatric patients. The role involves supporting patients through their surgical journey and helping develop our medical weight management program, which offers a holistic, long-term weight support curriculum.
Deliver behavioral health services in an outpatient clinic setting, including psychological assessments, psychotherapy, and participation in interdisciplinary care teams. Clinical duties will be assigned based on patient needs.
This is a teaching role, supporting the educational mission of the division through lectures to residents, fellows, and faculty. Opportunities may include training psychology students in the future.
Additional duties may include administrative tasks and participation in institutional committees, based on division needs and the candidate's interests.
