As the Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in expanding, optimizing, and maintaining our data architecture and data pipelines across the enterprise. This position is responsible for ensuring efficient data flow, collection, organization, and integration from both internal and external sources. The Data Engineer will support software developers, database architects, analysts, and business teams by providing scalable infrastructure that enables accurate, timely, and accessible data while collaborating analysts, developers and business stakeholders.


This is a Portland, OR based position and requires in-office work.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Data Pipeline Development & Optimization:
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to move and transform data from diverse sources (databases, APIs, logs, files) into storage and analytical systems.
  • Implement robust ETL/ELT processes to clean, normalize, and enrich data for downstream consumption.
  • Continuously optimize pipeline performance for speed, reliability, and scalability.
  • Data Integration & APIs:
  • Design, build, and maintain system integrations to connect internal and external data sources.
  • Develop and manage APIs for secure and reliable data exchange across platforms.
  • Implement real-time or near-real-time data synchronization where required.
  • Data Storage, Modeling & Transformation:
  • Select appropriate storage solutions (relational, NoSQL, cloud warehouses) based on business and performance needs.
  • Design and implement transformation logic to structure raw data into usable formats for reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain data models and schemas that align with business requirements.
  • Data Quality, Security & Compliance:
  • Establish and enforce processes for data validation, cleansing, and quality checks.
  • Monitor and resolve data anomalies, discrepancies, or pipeline errors.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) and implement security best practices (encryption, access controls).


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and large-scale datasets.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases; familiarity with NoSQL and cloud-native data stores preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure data technologies (Data Factory, Logic Apps, Data Lake, Azure SQL/SQL Data Warehouse).
  • Proficiency in API development and integration (REST, GraphQL, JSON, XML).
  • Experience with ETL/ELT orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Informatica, Talend, MuleSoft).
  • Salesforce experience preferred but not required.
