Job Description

Mission: To identify and record casting defects, severity, and the responsible department in order to assist engineering and process control in resolving processing variations. To verify alloy type in each casting and visually inspect castings before release for further processing.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Inspection. Objective: To visually inspect and verify part quality through instrumentation tests prior to routing for further processing.
  • Documentation. Objective: To record defects and process control problems for timely analysis by process control and engineering.
  • Interfacing. Objective: To work with engineering, process control and other plant departments to identify and resolve problems found during inspection.
  • Safety. Objective: To take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

Training is provided on the job. May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.

Entry Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of one or more of the stages of the investment casting process is preferred OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Ability to follow instructions, read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to attend to details.
  • Ability to lift and or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to seventy five pounds.
  • Ability to work in difficult working conditions, which may include exposure to noise, dust, temperature extremes, awkward positions and other elements for extended periods of time.
