Overview

The Idealease Rental Manager oversees daily rental operations, ensuring profitability, expense control, and customer satisfaction. This role manages fleet utilization, rental sales strategies, billing, and regulatory compliance while leading staff and fostering cross-department collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily rental operations – Manage all aspects of the Rental Department's day-to-day activities, ensuring smooth processes, regulatory compliance, and a strong customer service focus.
  • Achieve financial objectives – Drive rental revenue and profitability while controlling expenses; regularly review financial results against the business plan and take corrective action when needed.
  • Develop and execute sales and marketing plans – Create and implement rental sales strategies, set competitive rates, and use multiple channels such as telemarketing, mailers, and customer visits to grow business.
  • Manage rental fleet and utilization – Oversee equipment availability, coordinate daily yard checks, track utilization, and work with the Service Department to ensure vehicles meet company and DOT standards.
  • Maintain and strengthen customer relationships – Build lasting relationships with key rental customers, provide responsive service, and proactively resolve issues to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Implement systems and policies – Develop and maintain organized procedures for equipment check-in/check-out, vehicle and customer records, insurance documentation, turn-down logs, and credit policies.
  • Ensure accurate billing and reporting – Establish and maintain billing routines to ensure timely and accurate invoices; track customer and prospect activity and provide weekly and monthly reports to management.
  • Hire, train, and lead staff – Recruit, train, and manage rental sales and counter personnel; foster a professional, safe, and customer-focused work environment that supports growth.
  • Safeguard assets and enforce controls – Maintain strong internal controls to protect company assets, ensure compliance with policies, and support financial integrity across rental operations.
  • Collaborate across departments – Work closely with Service, Sales, and other department leaders to align strategies, optimize resources, and deliver a seamless customer experience.

  • Communicate and cooperate with all departments.
  • Attend company meetings as required.
  • Handle all employee and customer issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Idealease General Manager.
  • Display an earnest desire to perform assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Eagerly participate in company sponsored training events.
  • Complete assigned tasks within the allotted time frame.
  • Display an aptitude to learn and advance.
  • Interact, at all times, with customers professionally and courteously.
  • Promote an atmosphere of cooperation, teamwork and goodwill with fellow employees.

Desired Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or higher; advanced education or technical certifications in business, sales, or automotive/truck maintenance preferred.
  • Relevant industry experience (3–7 years) in dealership operations, rental/fleet management, or service leadership roles.
  • Strong background in staff supervision and team development, including coaching, training, and performance management.

Practical knowledge of regulatory compliance, safety standards, and customer service best practices within a transportation or automotive environment.
