Reporting to the President of Benchmark Contracting, the Senior Accountant Construction oversees financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and insurance programs to support accurate construction project accounting and strategic decision-making, while working on-site at the West Linn, Oregon office.

What you'll do:
Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with accounting standards and Tarkett requirements. Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, WIP, and payroll.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reviews, providing insights and corrective recommendations.
Financial Operations: Oversee accounts payable/receivable, job costing, payroll, tax compliance, banking, and cash flow management.
Compliance, Controls & Risk: Ensure adherence to financial regulations (GAAP), tax laws, and internal controls; coordinate audits and manage enrollment in Owner Controlled and Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP and CCIP) to ensure project-wide coverage and regulatory compliance.
Prepare monthly reports for workers' compensation and general liability insurance.
Maintain state registrations and business licenses to ensure legal compliance across jurisdictions.
Benefits Administration: Manage employee master data, benefits programs, and payroll setup, ensuring compliance with labor and tax laws.
Strategic Support: Provide financial insights for decision-making and managing insurance administration.
What you need for success:
Education: Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting (CPA preferred).
Experience: 5+ years of financial management experience, accounting construction experience (must), project accounting (must).
Technical proficiencies:
Financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel).
Construction management software (e.g., Procore).
Accounting operations software for construction (e.g., Foundation Software).
Fundamental knowledge of GAAP.
Supervisory experience.
Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Resourceful, problem-solver, driven, and dynamic.
Valid Public notary.
