IS Systems Engineer II

Job Summary

This position implements and maintains corporate server solutions and recommends selection of effective solutions which support business strategies. This role is essential toward maturing Health Share's compute model. The successful candidate will spend substantial time evaluating, architecting, and implementing IS policies and systems (plan, design, install, and maintain).

Estimated Hiring Range

$90,315.00 - $110,385.00

Essential Responsibilities

Systems Design and Development

  • Actively participate in the design and maintenance of a highly reliable compute infrastructure, including but not limited to server/storage hardware, operating system and application virtualization, Microsoft operating systems and applications, Active Directory, data protection/backup systems, and cloud services.
  • Provide server/compute technology advanced knowledge to the company and participate in and consult on projects.
  • Advise other IS teams on best practices for compute design.

Systems Administration and Operations

  • Execute tasks related to tickets and service requests for basic to advanced activities.
  • Actively maintain server and storage systems.
  • Analyze business needs; research and recommend solutions which include potential risks and mitigation.
  • Help define, as well as build, run, and review, reports on server/storage performance and event anomalies; make minor and advanced internal adjustments and identify substantial gaps based on findings.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate technology documentation, including current design and operation.

Standards and Policy Administration

  • Propose requirements and standards for compute technology selection and deployment.
  • Participate in the ongoing review existing systems to ensure they are designed to comply with established standards and to empower business operations.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining compute policies.
  • Assist with the development and management of security policies and systems, such as firewalls, intrusion detection, and intrusion prevention devices.
  • Assist with the development and management of network policies and systems, such as switches, routers, wide area networks, and local area networks.
  • Participate in planning for and supporting disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.

Vendor Coordination and Relations

  • Conduct product and vendor research, and present recommendations to senior engineer and/or management.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors and related equipment suppliers, including installation and repair of services.
  • Maintain service contracts and licensing; monitor adherence to SLAs with outside parties; escalate issues as needed.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum 2 years' experience in most of the delivery systems solutions and related services below:

  • Physical server hardware
  • Virtual server farms
  • Delivering virtualized applications
  • Cloud and “as a Service” offerings
  • Data protection and retention
  • Microsoft operating systems, core services, and management tools
  • Compute infrastructure development, including a balance of performance, management, and cost objectives
  • ITIL concepts and practices
  • IT project management
  • Vendor management

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Storage area networks and storage arrays
  • Experience using Powershell to automate tasks
  • Healthcare or health insurance experience
  • Additional experience in related technology support and/or operational positions.
