Position Summary

2nd Shift Production Supervisor – Land O'Lakes, Inc.

Location: Portland, OR
Shift: 2nd Shift (afternoon) – may include other shifts as needed to meet business needs. Operational Hours: Plant operates 24 hours/5 days a week with weekends as required.

This role is part of our Purina Animal Nutrition business, supporting our network of local cooperatives, independent dealers, and large retailers that serve producers and animal owners across the United States. Through industry‑leading R&D and committed partnerships, we innovate nutrition products and practices that unlock the full potential of every animal for a healthier, more productive life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a safety culture and awareness throughout the plant, setting a leading example by adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed using proper SOPs, GMPs, safety procedures, and other regulations.
  • Conduct Pre‑Operation Inspections before starting the shift or work orders.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and records by following SOPs and industrial practices; learn and use the batching system and WEM.
  • Maintain accurate daily receipts, inspection results, and other required documentation.
  • Direct and coordinate production schedules and goals, ensuring timely output.
  • Monitor and update Workday time‑keeping as needed, approving employee time each week.
  • Review daily paperwork and ensure compliance.
  • Lead, coach, train, direct, and discipline employees.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to execute departmental orders and meet goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or High School degree with 4+ years of leadership experience (preferred Bachelor's in Management, Business, or related field).
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and production flow.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; ability to adapt to new programs.
  • Ability to coordinate, provide direction, influence, and coach staff.
  • Ability to work with management to maintain production schedules and goals.
  • Excellent decision‑making, quality orientation, technical knowledge, and customer focus.
  • Time‑management and process‑improvement orientation.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Strong teamwork and relationship‑building skills that promote a positive working environment.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and production flow.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Strong time‑management and multitasking abilities.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure without supervision.
  • Willingness to assist the production team when short‑handed and to fill in on the line.
  • Willingness to run production on Saturdays when needed.
