Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Sevenson is a nationally recognized environmental remediation contractor, ranked No. 4 on Engineering and News Record in the country, working with clients to remediate contaminated sites across the United States.

The daily work will include:

• Control equipment and monitor processes
• Run tests to make sure that the processes are working correctly
• Keep records of water quality and other indicators
• Operate and maintain the pumps and motors that move water and wastewater through filtration systems
• Adjust the amount of chemicals, such as Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Hydroxide, and Sulfuric Acid, being added to the water
• Use computerized systems to monitor plant processes
• Fix chemical leaks
• Keep records that document compliance
• Perform grounds keeping, including snow removal with plow, snow blower, and shovel; painting of structures, pipes, and equipment; and operate various hand and power tools
• Participate in routine custodial duties as needed for building and grounds maintenance

Skills/Experience Needed:

• Be able to follow written, spoken instructions and diagrams
• Be able to follow health and safety regulations
• Be accurate and observant at all times
• Have good numeracy skills
• Be practical and comfortable using new technology, including computers
• Be able to solve problems
• Work well as part of a team and on their own initiative
• Have a good level of fitness and stamina
• Be willing to cope with unpleasant smells and substances
• Be prepared to work unsocial hours
• Must be available to work on any shift either day or night as the Water Treatment Plant is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operation
• Must have a working telephone for callback
• Must obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
• Must have a valid drivers license
• OSHA HAZ WHOPPER certificate a plus
