Clinical Laboratory Assistant at Providence Milwaukie Hospital

Full Time / Variable Shift

Join our dedicated team as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant where you will play a vital role in accurately receiving, processing, and labeling laboratory specimens. You will ensure the timely handling and distribution of laboratory data and patient results while supporting both acute-care and outpatient caregivers. In this crucial position, you will also register outpatient laboratory encounters, collecting complex demographic, insurance, and medical information. To excel, you will need to stay updated on registration functions and effectively utilize multiple computer applications in completing patient encounters.

Required Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in healthcare or a related field, or a combination of applicable experience and education.
• Experience in clerical or client services.
• Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory Compliance Regulations, including Medicare Secondary Payor (MSP), EMTALA, ABN, and HIPAA.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of college coursework in biological sciences, anatomy, and medical terminology, or an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in related fields.
• Certification from a Clinical Laboratory Assistant program, or equivalent education/experience.
• Phlebotomy certification with 1 year of related experience, or 3 years of relevant experience.
• Certification from a recognized government agency or national organization upon hire.
• Experience in a high-volume, acute care setting.
• 2 years of experience in phlebotomy, medical assisting, clinical lab operations, or research.
