The Grounds Shop is looking for student employees who can work up to a 24-hour work week during spring semester. This position provides support to the Grounds Shop staff and reports to the Shop Supervisor. The Supervisor provides ongoing verbal feedback to the student employee in lieu of formal evaluations. Student employees are given a list of expectations at the beginning of employment and will be held to this standard throughout employment (as well as any additional University standards/policies).
The hours available to work are Monday through Friday, between 7:00am-3:30pm. We can be flexible with class scheduling.
A valid driver's license and a driving record background check are required prior to being hired if student will be driving any vehicles (including campus carts) as part of their work duties. Student employees must also successfully complete Campus Safety's online driver safety training before driving on campus for this position.
Core Duties
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: ยท
* Assisting Grounds crew members with landscape maintenance around campus and rental properties
* Tasks will involve use of the following equipment:
* Power Washer
* Lawn Mowers
* Yard Blowers
* Weed Whackers
* Edging Equipment
* Various Hand Tools
* Driving to transport tools and other supplies as needed
* Other relevant duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
* Must be 18 years of age or older for this position
* Valid driver's license and consent to driving record background check required
* Dependable
* Works well under supervision, and also independently
* Able to work outside in all types of weather
Preferred Qualifications
* Interest in landscaping maintenance
* Experience with lawn maintenance equipment listed above
Physical Requirements
