POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking motivated and driven Technicians with all levels of knowledge, experience, and skill set to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of commercial vehicles and associated components for all makes and models. Valid Drivers' License required; CDL license preferred.

Salary range for Technicians (depending on knowledge and experience) can range from $45,000-$150,000+

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with company and factory standards.
  • Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repairs.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examine the assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicates with service advisor/leadman immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Supervises the work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Any other duties as outlined by the Service Manager or Shop Foreman.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all company-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.

KNOWLEDGE AND ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS

Employee safety is important at RWC. The technician position is a safety-sensitive position and falls under the requirements of RWC Drug and Alcohol policy.
  • Hands-on experience as a diesel technician, preferably with dealership experience
  • Navistar Engine, Cummins Engine, and CAT Engine Certification preferred.
  • ASE Certification preferred.
  • Diagnostic skill/experience & attention to detail.
  • Considerable knowledge of the design, adjustment, operations, maintenance, and repair of diversified mechanical and electrical equipment, including light, medium, and heavy diesel engines.
  • Valid Drivers License Required.

Must be able to successfully pass a background check and a pre-hire drug and alcohol test.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment.
  • Read job order, observe and listen to the vehicle in operation to resolve malfunctions and plan work procedures.
  • Follow checklists, ensuring all critical parts are examined.
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and adjust as needed.
  • Test-drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly.
  • Tag all warranty parts and returns to the warranty clerk.
  • Attend training classes and keep tabs on factory technical bulletins.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer happiness.
  • Properly complete the service and/or repairs assigned by the supervisor.
  • Complete all work according to the applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
  • Participate in, and utilize to the best of one's abilities, technical training as assigned by management.
  • Maintain your designated workspace in an organized and clean manner.
  • Ensure guest vehicles are returned as clean as they were prior to being serviced.
  • Show the utmost courtesy to all guests, visitors, and dealership personnel.
  • Make every effort to achieve the production objectives set by management.
  • Adhere to the manufacturer's policies and procedures as they relate to labor operations, time, and repair order documentation when performing warranty repairs and torque specifications.
  • Any other duties as outlined by the Service Supervisor and or management.

Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of Fleet or Dealership experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • ASE certification preferred
  • CDL certification preferred
  • Teammate with a strong sense of dedication to the customer and the service team
  • Self-motivated and professional
  • Possesses own tools
