Maintenance Technician

As a Maintenance Technician, you will lead and coordinate activities within the maintenance department to ensure smooth and efficient operations of the plant facilities. You will direct the installation, repair, and maintenance of machines, tools, and equipment, while also maintaining the buildings, grounds, and utility systems of the facility. This role requires working closely with management and production personnel to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities include overseeing the daily operation of the maintenance and toolroom area, including projects, repairs, purchases, and preventative maintenance schedules. You will also review maintenance work orders, production needs, safety committee project lists, and employee relations facility improvement lists to determine work priorities. Direct maintenance activities on utility systems to provide a continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations. Ensure safe installation and repair of electrical equipment, including understanding and teaching safe use of electrical components up to 480 volts. Develop and implement an ongoing preventative maintenance program by inspecting operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards. Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and enhance labor and material utilization. Lead and drive automation and continuous improvement projects, ensuring technical approach and safety are managed from start to finish. Review production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics. Maintain hard copy and computer files related to new molds and equipment. Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations and solicit competent contract labor at fair pricing. Generate and distribute work orders with clear objectives and direction. Work closely with Human Resources and Plant Manager to resolve employment issues and adhere to company policy and guidelines. Prepare department budget and monitor expenditures to avoid over-expenditures.

Essential skills include experience as a maintenance lead with expertise in Injection Mold Maintenance. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of injection molding equipment is required. Experience in Injection Mold Machine operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance is also necessary.

This position offers a great long-term opportunity with the chance to work on exciting projects and contribute to continuous improvement within the organization. The work environment includes occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The noise level is moderate, and the environment may include moderate heat and vibration.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR. The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $35.00/hr.
