Columbia River Catholic (CRC) is comprised of three campuses in Southwest Washington. Those three campuses are Holy Redeemer in Vancouver, Washington; St. Thomas Aquinas in Camas, Washington; and Our Lady Star of the Sea in Stevenson, Washington. CRC is seeking to hire a full-time Maintenance Assistant. The person in this role provides hands-on maintenance services to buildings and grounds primarily at the Holy Redeemer and the St. Thomas Aquinas Campuses (Work at Our Lady Star of the Sea would be rare, and occur only on an as-needed basis)

This is a full-time (30 hours +/-) position with benefits. The hourly range for this position is $18.33 - $25.50/hour depending on experience and qualifications.

This position requires the new hire to work at two separate campuses on an as needed basis as directed by the facilities manager. Those two campuses are Holy Redeemer in Vancouver, WA; and St. Thomas Aquinas in Camas, WA. We anticipate that the new hire will spend 2-3 days at Holy Redeemer, and 2 days at St. Thomas Aquinas. Work at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Stevenson will occur rarely, and only on an emergency basis.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees, and certifications.

Major Duties and Responsibilities include:

  1. Inspecting the churches and outbuildings weekly at Holy Redeemer and St. Thomas Aquinas campuses to identify any major maintenance needs.
  2. Providing a list of any major maintenance needs that result from the inspection to the facilities manager.
  3. Meeting with the facilities manager to determine the order of priority of the tasks developed from the list.
  4. Performing preventative maintenance to the buildings and grounds to minimize plumbing, mechanical, electrical, heating, and AC system failures.
  5. Assisting the facility manager and volunteers with larger projects as needed.
  6. Setting up facilities for special events as needed. This includes but is not limited to table and chair formations for meetings, Christmas events, Easter events, funerals, ministry events, and soup supper events.
  7. Tracking the inventory on maintenance materials to ensure that proper quantities are available when needed. The list of items to maintain includes, but is not limited to toilet paper, paper towels, trash liners, and cleaning materials. Duties include ordering and picking up these materials as required.
  8. Assisting the landscape volunteers when help is needed to include zero turn mower experience preferred.
  9. Completing and executing on the weekly duty checklist provided by the facilities manager.
  10. Removing trash and delivering it to the dumpsters located next to the church buildings.
  11. Shoveling snow from the walkways prior to the Masses.


Qualifications

High School diploma preferred but not required.

Demonstrated history of maintenance/facilities work.

Ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage time effectively.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both supervisors, and other staff/volunteers.

Preferred

Ability to use personal truck with reimbursement available for fuel and maintenance.
