Job Summary

As a Grocery Cashier, you will provide friendly and efficient service to our customers at our 24/7 retail locations. Your responsibilities include processing customer transactions accurately and courteously at check stands, self-checkout stations, or customer service desks.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers while maintaining a friendly atmosphere.
• Effectively operate check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners, and scales to process customer orders.
• Utilize suggestive selling techniques to enhance customer experience.
• Handle monetary transactions accurately, including cash, checks, gift certificates, and food stamps, following all Cash Handling policies.
• Maintain product knowledge and ensure proper pricing and product location.
• Keep your check stand clean, organized, and stocked, ensuring a safe work environment.
• Stock, price, and rotate merchandise as needed.
• Be flexible and ready to assist at self-checkout lanes or customer service counters when required.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

• Comply with all state and federal laws regarding the sale of restricted items such as tobacco and alcohol.
• Follow USDA procedures for Food Stamp and WIC vouchers.

Additional Self-Checkout Attendant Duties and Responsibilities

• Proactively manage self-checkout areas to expedite transactions and maintain a safe environment.
• Engage with customers at self-checkout stations to assist with transactions and resolve any issues.
• Monitor multiple transactions in a fast-paced setting to verify payment and accuracy.
• Anticipate customer needs and maintain awareness of self-checkout activities.
• Prioritize safety by addressing concerns according to Company policies.

Requirements

• Availability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to complete written forms and conduct visual inspections.
• Capable of lifting up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Experience operating cash register equipment.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks accurately.
• Manual dexterity and excellent hand/eye coordination.
• Aptitude for learning and memorizing product information and procedures.
• Strong mental alertness and basic mathematical skills.
• Willingness to use blades for box cutting and household cleaners for workspace maintenance.
• Effective in managing high-stress situations and customer interactions.

• Compliance with state and local regulations regarding food safety, tobacco, and alcohol sales certifications.
