Job Summary & Description:
Empowered Services is seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team. In this role, you will build meaningful relationships that inspire confidence, promote independence, and support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living fulfilling, joyful lives.

As a DSP, you will work one-on-one with each customer to understand their unique needs, support them in achieving their goals, and provide care in a positive, encouraging, and safe environment. Our DSPs serve not only as caregivers but also as mentors, advocates, and trusted companions for the individuals we support.

399: We are looking for a warm, patient, and flexible Direct Support Professional to support an energetic young boy who thrives with movement and understanding care. He love to stay active through walking, spending time on his indoor swing, and visiting mini marts or grocery stores to look around. He enjoys doing arts and crafts and talking about his favorite things. He is not in school currently and can find it challenging to follow directions. Social settings can be challenging as he prefers quiet spaces, avoids crowds, and engages in parallel play rather than group play.

The ideal provider will be able to get down to his level, following his lead, and sharing in his interests.

Schedule: Monday after 12:00 pm (3-4 hours), Tuesday after 3:00 pm (3-4 hours), Wednesday and Thursday after 1:00 pm (3-4 hours), Friday after 8:00 am (3-4 hours), Saturday (anytime).

Activities may include visiting parks and playgrounds, spending time at the skate park, going on community outings, and listening to music and singing. While he can be shy in public at first, he becomes more talkative and engaged as trust is built. He benefits from a provider who is a good listener, calm, and responsive to his communication, and who can use gentle redirection or distraction during moments of frustration. Close supervision is important during community outings to support safety and awareness.

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys being active, building meaningful connections, and supporting skill development in everyday life while maintaining professionalism and clear communication with family.

Schedule: Monday - Friday from 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturdays flexible.

408: We are seeking a Direct Support Professional to work with a social, creative individual who enjoys learning, community engagement, and meaningful connection with others. Activities may include trips to the library, shopping outings, art projects such as painting, dancing, listening to music, and spending time around others in the community. The individual is non-verbal and communicates using a spelling board, so a provider who is patient, attentive, and comfortable supporting alternative communication is essential.

Support will also include assistance with transportation to classes, studying, and reinforcing learning goals, as well as help with self-care, hygiene, daily living skills, dressing, and toileting support with redressing.

The ideal provider is friendly, warm, playful, and enjoys laughing while still being able to provide gentle structure and consistency.

Schedule: Mon, Tues, Thurs - 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM OR 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM

This individual enjoys music, humor, games on their phone, spending time in the community, and staying organized with daily routines like laundry. She thrives with providers who communicate respectfully, allow time for expression, and maintain a steady, supportive presence.

Experience supporting individuals who use wheelchairs is preferred. The role includes community support, skill-building toward independence, and assisting with household cleaning and organization. The ideal provider is friendly, dependable, not overly high-energy, and has a good sense of humor.

Schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Hours: 4-6 hours per day

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience with the I/DD community is preferred but not required.
  • Must pass a background check. - *Not all charges will warrant a disqualification.
  • Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, with a good driving record.
  • Must have your own reliable vehicle, with full coverage auto insurance.
  • Must be comfortable providing respectful support with personal care, including bathroom and hygiene.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Starting pay ranges from $23-$25 per hour, depending on a variety of factors, including experience, certifications, and skills.

  5. Encourage Growth and Exploration - Foster skill development, hobbies, interests, and community engagement, helping customers build confidence and independence.
  6. Build Meaningful Connections - Develop genuine relationships, creating a sense of belonging and helping customers recognize their value and voice in the community.
  7. Communicate Proactively - Keep in touch with County Coordinators and report updates or concerns promptly, ensuring smooth and supportive care.
  8. Prioritize Health and Safety - Follow all safety and wellness protocols to maintain a secure and comfortable environment for customers.
  9. Stay Trained and Informed - Complete required state training and certifications, keeping your skills sharp and your care up-to-date.
  10. Make a Positive Difference Every Day - Approach each day with compassion, patience, and understanding. Serve as a mentor, advocate, and companion, bringing encouragement, laughter, and meaningful support to customers' lives.
