Job Summary: The On-Call Manager will be responsible for overseeing the on-call team that provides coverage at all sites. They are responsible for performing supervisions, assisting with scheduling, and assisting the programs with coverage as needed. They will be responsible for the hiring, coaching, and accountability, and any terminations of on-call shelter staff for the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Administration, Compliance & Facilities
  • Participates in supervision of on-call day and night shelter staff.
  • Demonstrate and empower staff to take initiative and problem solve.
  • Provide support and assist staff in following policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership, support, and positive role modeling for on-call shelter staff.
  • Facilitate team meetings on a regular basis.
  • Assist with on-the-job training and guidance for new and current staff.
  • Participate in compliance, quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
  • Responsible for reviewing, correction and approval of timecards of direct reports by 10am the 1st and 16th of each month in conjunction with site management.
  • Attend and participate in all outlined training courses.
  • Supervisory
  • Checks in with staff on goals and job responsibilities.
  • Identifying, coaching, and providing tools, resources, and information for staff.
  • Assign/delegate shifts to staff and provide accountability/coaching.
  • Responsible for the selection, interviewing, and hiring process of on-call day and overnight shelter staff.
  • Responsible for the management of scheduling software and identifying staff coverage.
  • Responsible for administration of any coaching and/or progressive discipline of staff up to, and including, termination.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for On-Call Day/Overnight Shelter Staff
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • 2 - 3 years' experience as a supervisor or similar position.
  • Direct administrative or support services in a non-profit, housing, sheltering, or volunteer coordination.
  • Understanding of Housing First and Harm Reduction models.
  • Being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace.
  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Preferred Experience:
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Preferred Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or another related field (Preferred).
  • Other relevant certification or training.
  • Lived experience.
Additional eligibility requirements:
  • Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to pass a background check upon offer.
  • Must be able to work in a drug-free environment.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and be punctual.
Work environment:

Working indoors and outdoors in heat and cold | Slippery and uneven walking surfaces | Working in close proximity to others | Exposure to offensive odors

Physical Requirements:

Travel required:

Occasional travel to and from other work sites up to 40% of the time.
