Ride Connection - Mobility Specialist
Full-Time | Portland Metro Area | Flexible Schedule Required

Do you believe that access to transportation is essential to dignity, independence, and community connection? Ride Connection is seeking a Mobility Specialist to join our equity-driven Mobility Team, that actively advances the organization's mission to provide accessible, customer-focused transportation by centering the needs of older adults, people with disabilities, and individuals with low incomes. A core component of this work involves proactively collaborating to overcome language and other systemic barriers to service access.

In this role you'll focus on navigating systemic barriers through creative problem-solving, ensuring older adults, people with disabilities, and individuals with low income can access the transportation options that best affirms their independence, preferences, and self-determination.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations and service partners
  • Partner with community members to understand their transportation needs, preferences, and goals
  • Provide individualized, confidential transportation options coaching
  • Help people overcome systemic, language, and access barriers when navigating transportation systems
  • Respond to customer inquiries by phone, email, and text
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports
  • Represent Ride Connection with professionalism, care, and respect

Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience
  • Experience working with older adults and people with disabilities
  • Applies equity-based and culturally responsive practice in service to communities of color, low-income communities, immigrant communities, and other historically marginalized groups
  • Demonstrated respect for lived experience and a commitment to addressing systemic barriers
  • Strong active listening, interviewing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communications kills including informal and formal community presentations, with the ability to communicate professionally and courteously by phone and in person.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities; capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer applications.
  • Valid Oregon or Washington driver's license anddriving record that meets Ride Connection standards
  • Reliable transportationfor work related travel
  • Ability to pass acomprehensivenational criminal background check, including fingerprint identification
Preferred Additional Education and Experience
  • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency in high demand languages (Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese) is highly desirable and considered an asset in serving diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Portland Metropolitan area, including familiarity with its public transportation infrastructure and services.
  • Proven commitment to and experience working within the nonprofit sector, with a passion for advancing mission-driven initiatives.
  • Educational background or formal coursework in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related human services discipline.
Work Environment & Schedule
  • Currently a hybrid work environment
  • Works regularly in the community and travels throughout the Portland metro area
  • Flexible schedule required, including some evenings and weekends
